{ For all Our Lady Travel Buddies of Team YTB }

MP3 File

CHRISTIAN SISTERS

What makes me weak? My fears.

What makes me whole? My God.

What keeps me standing? My faith.

What makes me compassionate? My selflessness.

What makes me honest? My integrity.

What sustains my mind? My quest for knowledge.

What teaches me all lessons? My mistakes.

What lift's my head high? My pride, not arrogance.

What if I can't go on? Not an option.

What makes me victorious? My courage to climb.

What makes me competent? My confidence.

What makes me sensual? My insatiable essence.

What makes me beautiful? My everything.

What makes me a woman? My heart.

Who says I need love? I do.

What empowers me? My God & Me.

Who am I? I AM A STRONG CHRISTIAN WOMAN!

Motivation: applied to the hide...Back in the Day

September 1967, I was a 13 year old 9th Grade Freshman at John J. Pershing High School in Detroit. It had been a Fun but rough hot summer in the city. Truly the best AND Worst of times. My First day in the Building I met a relentless Man, who somehow already knew my Name. That Summer my body had outgrown my Musculature. The arms and legs just didn't move in sync with where I wanted to go and certainly not with any speed or power. But as I said, Coach Rob was Relentless. He applied "Motivation" for the "Rope Climb" and the Pull-up Bar, not to mention the "Panic Swim" and Friday's "Miracle Mile". And when His arms got tired he used leverage in the form of an upperclassman neighborhood Nemesis, who never tired. Coach Rob never gave up on The "Snead Kid" as I overheard him describe me to the Football coach. Later on I remember sneakin' into the gym (Like I owned the Place) upon hearing the Girls running around the track above the gym. I quickly shot up that climbing rope to get eye level with them and waved them over with my freehand. I was asking them If I could help them with their "Homework" and perhaps join me on a "Physiology Project" I was working on. LOL! They all giggled,"Snead You so Crazy.." and quickly scurried to their side of the Gym divider. As I slowly and smoothly lowered my self to the gyn floor, eyes never leaving the last of the ladies forms gliding 'round the track to the other side, I suddenly felt The Heat of Motivation! I was motivated by this Little Man with the growling voice that could and would be heard and is still reverberating in the Minds of Men to this very day. No more Unsupervised rope climb's for me. And I don't know how I broke my 6:02 time in those 16 laps 'round the track that afternoon, running up on my toes, in full stride, arms pumping, head high, breathing deep and no ways tired. Must have been Motivation applied. And like I said, Coach William Robinson was Relentless.

Thanks Coach-you sure left a Legacy in us....

I wrote a note to Coach's Longtime Friend and Chronicler of his Life, Dr. Janet Bobby. Go Below and feel what I felt compelled to write about the World being too small for such a Big Hearted Man. Thanks Coach!

In the Photo from Dr. Janet Bobby's collection on the occasion
of Coach Earl Lloyd's Induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
From Left: Radio Legend~George Blaha, Big Bob Lanier, Coach Lloyd,
Piston Great and new Mayor of Detroit, Dave Bing.
A that little white haired man who started so many of us
down the right path~~The Legend, Coach William Robinson
Greg replied to Dr. Bobby:
"Wow, It's a Small World. Good folk come in and out of your life,
Some leave an Indelible mark on your mind. Some leave a Legacy.
Some leave those "Keeper" words of encouragement and JOY!

Janet, Your photos give me Great Joy! They remind me of how close
we all really are.

Coach Rob met me as a 13 y/o 6ft 200lb 9th grader on my
first day of class..How did he know my name and my story...

Coach Lloyd spoke at my Senior Year Pershing HS Athletic
Banquet. He promised us he'd be lookin' out for all of us.
He gave me his business card, the first one I'd ever seen or
received. Years later I handed a receptionist that same card
who proceeded to pick up her phone...I was pulled out of the line
and was given an interview. I started work that afternoon.

Dave Bing Came to My Church:
Vernon Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Detroit.
A bunch of politicians come to our fellowship hall. Some will lie
right in Church. Bing is no politician. He's a Winner.
That's all I needed to know, flat out. Oh, btw, He Won.

Big Bob Lanier....He won me with his Literacy Programs for
kids...One of My Passions..Scouting & Literacy, a lack of
the latter keeps so many from flying with the EAGLES!

..and Good Ole' George...Darn near crashed my ride
into a wall on the lodge fwy...
Listening to the Power of The VOICE! Got me so Jacked Up!

Janet we love you and appreciate you. Keep It Coming!
